Other Tidbits:

- The Flatlanders played the very first Kerrville Folk Festival in 1972.
- Sometimes called the "Hill Country Flatlanders" after all of them had left Lubbock for Austin and Hill Country.
- In recent concerts, Terry Allen is sometimes called the "fourth Flatlander".
- Joe is often credited as "Little Johnny Fader" when behind the mixing board. On the original release of Butch's "West Texas Waltzes", Joe's production credit is given as "Earl Epiphone"
- The photo and artwork credits on Butch's early albums is usually listed as "Spinozza", which appears to really be Butch.
- Butch's father, George Hancock, published a book in 1985 about growing up in West Texas - "Go-Devils, Flies and Blackeyed Peas".
